(June 6, 2019) Culinary Specialist Seaman Apprentice Marvin Tapiceria, a native of San Diego, and Culinary Specialist 3rd Class Samira Brooks, native of Atlanta, both assigned to the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Pinckney (DDG 91), prepare their jerk-marinated catfish and passion fruit habanero creme tacos for the Portland Rose Fest Galley Wars Chef Competition. Portland Fleet Week is a time-honored celebration of the sea services and provides an opportunity for the citizens of Oregon to meet Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen, as well as witness firsthand the latest capabilities of today’s maritime services.
