Two U.S. Marines in desert MARPAT camouflage uniforms are deploying a portable solar panel system from a military transit case labeled 'USMC GREENS'. The case is open and solar panels are being raised/unfolded in what appears to be a forward operating base or austere outdoor environment. This appears to be a renewable energy system used for field power generation.

Staff Sgt. Antony Washington, Cpl. Samuel Stark and Cpl. Cody Cook, with 5th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company, set up the Ground Expeditionary Energy Network System on Camp Tombstone in Helmand province, Afghanistan. GREENS is a joint venture by the Navy and Marine Corps to find alternate power systems to decrease the dependability on regular power sources such as batteries, generators and natural fossil fuels in remote locations. The panels are stackable, allowing two arrays to fit into one case for portability.
