The dam at Fort Gibson Lake pictured here June 2, 2019. Dams are functioning as designed throughout the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Tulsa District during the spring 2019 flood event in Oklahoma and Kansas. The district is working around the clock to maintain the flood pools at the same percentages throughout its system of dams by either storing or releasing water in conjunction with each other in accordance with the district’s water control manuals. Tulsa District engineers and hydrologists continue to monitor dams to ensure they operate as designed and will provide updates as the situation changes to ensure public safety.
