Soldiers of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) color guard post the colors in front at the Magneville Memorial during a ceremony in Magneville, France June 4, 2019. The memorial was built in honor of the 18 paratroopers of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division and four C-47 transport crew members who were shot down on June 6, 1944. The memorial was established by residents of Magneville in 1948 to honor Allied servicemen who died in two separate crashes in the vicinity of Magneville in June 1944.
