Family and friends of retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. George "Buckshot" McKinney Jr. gathered at the 58th Fighter Squadron at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, for a memorial flight of McKinney's ashes on May 28, 2019. McKinney served in the 58th FS during 1970 - 1973 and with retired Air Force Lt. Col. Darrell Simmonds is recorded as the first F-4 crew to take down two MiG 17s by gun.
