For their participation in Operation Iraqi Freedom from December 2003 to April 2005, the 216th Engineer Battalion was awarded a campaign streamer for their contribution there. Lt. Col. Tom Caldwell, Commander, 216th Engineer Battalion and Cmd. Sgt. Maj. Steven Shepherd, senior-enlisted soldier, 216th Engineer battalion, affix a campaign stream to the 216th Engineer Battalion flag, June 15. The awarding of the campaign streamer was a highlight to the 216th’s Annual Training at the Camp Ravenna Joint Maneuver Training Center in northeast Ohio. The 216th has participated in many major military campaigns from World War 2 to Operation Iraqi Freedom.
