KING GEORGE, Va. (May 22, 2019) – Members of the NSWCDD Combat System Simulators team are pictured at the first Modeling and Simulation Summit sponsored by the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division. Front row left to right: Randy Johnson and Mark Vogel. Back row left to right - James Herin, Beth Tran, James Bowling, James Flowers, and Bob Cunningham.
The Combat System Simulators consist of three main components. The first is the Next Generation Simulation, which provides stimulation or simulation of combat system components not available to the combat system in a test or training exercise. The second is the Common Connectivity Device, which provides a means to connect two or more simulations across a simulated data link. The final system is the Universal Message Generator, which consists of a suite of applications that provide a state-driven message streaming capability to help provide unit level testing of message driven interfaces. This collection of tools enables a tester or trainer to exercise a combat system at a land based test or training site as if the system was underway in the Fleet. (U.S. Navy Photo/Released)
