Cpl. Angelo Melendez III, a Camp Pendleton dog handler, poses with his military working dog Blesk. Melendez and Blesk placed second for the tactical obedience portion of an Iron Dog competition. On Feb. 19, Melendez competed with other Marines in a mile-long obstacle course that challenged each pair's true connection while testing each dog's obedience, endurance and detection abilities.
