William Filip, Gold Crew commanding officer for the Ohio-class ballistic-missile submarine USS Alabama (SSBN 731), shows Paige Hinkle-Bowles, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Civilian Human Resources (DASN CHR), the dining facility, “Iron Bowl Bistro,” during a tour of the boat. Alabama is one of eight ballistic-missile submarines stationed at the base, providing the most survivable leg of the strategic deterrence triad for the United States.
