Juvenal Luna, from Santa Cruz, Calif., with the 4th Engineer Battalion, 576th Engineering Company and attached to the 14th Engineering Battalion serving in Helmand province, receives a Purple Heart. U.S. Forces-Afghanistan Deputy Commander for Support Maj. Gen. William E. Rapp pins the Purple Heart on SGT Cruz at a Ceremony on March 3, 2012. Sgt. Luna survived two separate IED attacks in a single day. Luna also received his promotion the same day.
