Michael Shenk, left, commander of 3rd Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment, 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, with a plaque to show his gratitude for a job well done while their two units worked together in Iraq during a ceremony Aug. 13 at Camp Taji, Iraq. Shenk's unit performed its first real combat air assault as a brand new unit with troopers from 2-10th on the anniversary of the first ever air assault conducted in the Ia Drang Valley of Vietnam in 1965.
