Senator Carl Levin, Michigan (D), speaks before a crowd of several hundred people gathered in the hangar bay during the Torah dedication ceremony on board the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75), June 24. The holy Jewish scrolls, one of the few from Lithuania to survive the Holocaust, were presented to Truman Commanding Officer, Capt. Herman Shelanski, and will be on loan and displayed aboard Truman for the duration of the ship's life.
