An M109A6 Paladin howitzer self-propelled gun and an M992 ammunition supply vehicle belonging to 4th Battalion, 27th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, overlook a range, preparing to locate and engage a simulated target during Table XVIII gunnery qualification at Dona Ana Range Camp, N.M. May 7. The M109A6 Paladins belonging to 4-27 FA will collectively locate and fire at targets during the training event to ensure that their projectiles reach and hit the target at the same time, an artillery task referred to as time on target.
Table XVIII gunnery is the culminating qualification event for the Iron Soldiers of 4-27 FA, consisting of several live-fire missions emphasizing coordination, precision and lethality, and preparing the battalion for two collective training exercises: Iron Focus 19.1 in June and a rotation at the National Training Center later this year.
