Sgt. 1st Class Robert Rodriguez, a platoon sergeant for the 1st Battalion, 141st Infantry Regiment, 72nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 36th Infantry Division of the Texas Army National Guard, hands out a stuffed animal to a young child, February 2019 in Djibouti. Rodriguez gifted 500 sandals to barefoot orphans and children during their deployment. Rodriguez coordinated the sandal donation effort with his daughter’s school, The Blessed Sacrament in Laredo, Texas. Rodriguez, who has been a part of the Texas National Guard Joint Counterdrug Task Force for 18 years, is no stranger to building local and national partnerships. Task force members build strong relationships with law enforcement partners and community based organizations in their local communities in an effort to combat drug related threats.
