FORT CARSON, Colo. -- Spc. Mason Prickett, left, and Spc. Zach McKinniss, UH-60 Black Hawk crew chiefs, Company C, 3rd Assault Helicopter Battalion (3rd AHB), 4th Aviation Regiment, 4th Combat Aviation Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, begin setting up a 500-gallon Bambi Bucket connected to a Black Hawk helicopter during training April 8, 2019. 3rd AHB is supporting the firefighting mission, alongside the fire department, on post from April through December this year, with two UH-60 Black Hawk aircrews every week. “Bambi Buckets are used when the installation commander calls for it… to be stood up and come forward to fly and support a firefighting mission,” said Deputy Chief Mitch L. Van Dyke, Fort Carson Fire and Emergency Services. “When we know (a fire is) in a remote or hard to access area, aircrews can provide strategic coverage for us to further knockdown (a fire)."
