    Soldier-Scientists from the 1st Area Medical Laboratory’s Bio Team check a blood plate for bacterial growth or any other characteristics that might help them determine how safe their environment is during their field training exercise at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania on March 21. The 1st AML is one of the few units in the U.S. Army using the Modified Table of Organization and Equipment (MTOE) Assigned Personnel (MAP) program, which allows health professionals to be part of the unit while they perform duties at other U.S. Army Medical Command research or medical facilities such as the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center or the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases.
