Marines with Bridge Platoon, Alpha Company, 9th Engineer Support Battalion use shovels to remove some hardened earth in order prepare an area for the construction of a bridge near Combat Outpost Rankel in the district of Garmsir, Helmand province, Jan. 29. The Marines of Bridge Platoon endured a 5-day convoy in order to replace a temporary bridge with a more permanent structure that would increase mobility for Marines operating in the area.
