GRAFENWOEHR, Germany - During a Vietnam Veteran pinning ceremony at the Exchange March 29, Command Sgt. Maj. Micheal Sutterfield of the USAG Bavaria talks with retired Sgt. 1st Class Mario Mercado. Mercado served in Vietnam from August 1972 to March 1973.
Forty-six years ago on March 29, he was on the second-to-last plane out of Vietnam, but not before seeing the closing of the Tan Son Nhut Air Base. He served as a helicopter medic and gunner.
