An AV-8B Harrier from Marine Attack Squadron 231 takes off from the USS Kearsarge Feb. 1 during Exercise Bold Alligator. The Harriers are planned to operate from the Kearsarge while conducting operations such as active air defense, combat air patrols, and close air support.
