Lance Cpl. Matthew Mills, Gunnery Sgt. John Esguerra, and other Marines with Combat Logistics Battalion 31, wade ashore from a Landing Craft Utility in Apra Harbor, Guam, March 6, 2019. Mills, a landing support specialist from Bonneau, South Carolina, graduated from Timberland High School in June 2014 before enlisting in January 2017. Esguerra, the motor transportation operations chief for CLB-31, is a native of Largo, Florida. CLB-31 provides security, logistics, and transportation as the Logistics Combat Element for the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU partnering with the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
