A man with tattoos and a mustache is performing a deadlift with a heavily loaded barbell on what appears to be the deck of a naval vessel. Two other men are visible nearby — one wearing a Billabong t-shirt observing from the left, and another seated on the right watching. A container of gym chalk is visible on the deck, indicating a structured workout session.

U.S. Marine Cpl. Oliver Felty, a bulk fuel specialist with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, competes in a weightlifting competition during a steel beach event on the boat deck of the Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship USS Fort McHenry (LSD-43). Steel beach is held on ship and meant to boost morale and comradery during deployment. Marines and Sailors with the 22nd MEU and Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group are currently deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
