    IWO TO, Japan (Mar. 14, 2019) — Lt. Matthew Kelly, left, reenlists Aircrewman (Operator) 1st Class Michael Hauselmann, right, both assigned to the "Golden Swordsmen" of Patrol Squadron (VP) 47, at the memorial on Mount Suribachi. The memorial is to the flag raising during Battle of Iwo Jima on top of Mt. Suribachi. It reads: "Among the Americans who served on Iwo Jima, uncommon valor was a common virtue." — Nimitz. Dedicated to those who fought here by the Island Command AGF. Erected by the 31st USNCB. Old Glory was raised on this site 23 February 1945 by members of the Second Battalion, 28th Regiment, Fifth Marine Division." VP-47 is currently deployed to Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa, Japan conducting maritime patrol and reconnaissance and theater outreach operations within U.S. 7th Fleet (C7F) area of operations in support of Commander, Task Force 72, C7F, and U.S. Pacific Command objectives throughout the Indo-Asia Pacific region.
