Maj. Tate Whitener, 340th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron and native of Pellston, Mich., jumps while performing burpees during a new fitness program here Jan. 27, 2012. A burpee is a full-body exercise that requires the athlete to drop to the squat position, extend feet back into the pushup position, return to the squat position and then spring into the air. Burpees, along with other strength and aerobic exercises, are included in the new program.
