U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District team members Lt. Col. Jason A. Toth and Andrew Armstrong, Frank Seglenieks from Environment and Climate Change Canada, and members of the International Niagara Working Committee conduct a helicopter ice-thickness measurement flight on Lake Erie, Feb. 22, 2019.
Each winter, the INWC conducts two helicopter ice-thickness measurement flights and two survey flights of the Eastern Basin of Lake Erie to assess ice conditions and determine when the ice boom can be removed from the mouth of the Niagara River.
