Why is this Soldier the Blackhorse of The Week? Staff Sgt. Hernandez is being recommended for Blackhorse of the Week for his dedication, motivation, and initiative. During the end of tour Staff Sgt. Hernandez took lead in spearheading the movement of all organizational equipment not only from Taji, Iraq but also five other outlying forward logistic elements. Along with the help of a small team, Staff Sgt. Hernandez was directly responsible for conducting inventories, packing and certifying all equipment to meet both the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force standards to leave the theater. Staff Sgt. Hernandez also successfully coordinated air movement operations for sensitive and hazardous items estimated at over one million dollars.
The Blackhorse of The Week Award is presented to Soldiers that show outstanding service, dedication to duty, and leadership throughout the Sustainment Brigade area of operations. Each Soldier selected is presented with a certificate and coin.
