Motoko Richards (left) receives a homemade keepsake from Chika Kikuta following a recent visit to Oshima Island Jan. 12 and 13. The purpose of the command-sponsored visit was to evaluate the impact of the homestay program. The homestay program was designed to provide temporary relaxation for children affected by the earthquake and tsunami and was symbolic of the affection and friendship between the people of Japan and the United States. Eldridge is the deputy assistant chief of staff, G-7, Marine Corps Installations Pacific.
