IE SHIMA, Japan — Lance Cpl. Alejandro Junco trains using the “jaws of life” tool during Ryukyu Warrior 12 on Ie Shima Dec. 6. Junco is using the tool to cut the four posts that connect to the roof in order to extract the victim. Ryukyu Warrior is an annual training exercise in which units within 1st Marine Aircraft Wing conduct multiple training exercises throughout a four-day period. Junco is an aircraft rescue firefighter with Marine Wing Support Squadron 172, Marine Wing Support Group 17, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
