George Woods, a chief therapist in Naval Medical Center Portsmouth’s (NMCP) Radiation Oncology Division, lines up the marks of patient mask to the laser position beam, in preparation for a treatment session for head and neck cancer. The Radiation Oncology Division debuted a new Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator during the Jan. 25 open house and held a ribbon cutting for the $4.5-million machine that is revolutionary in the way it treats cancerous and benign tumors.
