Multiple military CH-47 Chinook tandem-rotor helicopters are performing sequential takeoffs or low-level flight operations along a runway at a military airfield. At least four Chinooks are visible in a staggered formation, with the nearest aircraft hovering just above the runway surface and others progressively further away. The scene appears to be a coordinated flight exercise or departure operation under overcast skies.

Lufkin,Texas — Eight CH-47 Chinook helicopters from B Company, 2nd Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment, 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, lead the way flying from Fort Hood, Texas to Fort Polk, Louisiana, on Jan. 4. The CH-47s were the first helicopters to arrive at the Joint Readiness Training Center in order to conduct rapid refueling operations for the rest of the helicopters in Task Force Lobos. TF Lobos’ mission at JRTC was to support the 2nd Security Force Assistance Brigade. (U.S. Army photo by Maj. Paul Oliver, 1st ACB)
