Sergeant Randy King, a platoon guide for 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, and Ashville, N.C., native, enjoys the warmth of his makeshift shelter, built from scrap wood, discarded nails and waterproof tarps. The 50-year-old King, who first enlisted in 1979 and served for eight years, once again returned to the Marine Corps, reenlisting alongside his son, who works as a military police officer at Camp Lejeune, N.C.
