Gunnery Sgt. Jimmy Richard, drill master, 2nd Battalion is promoted by Brig. Gen. Daniel Yoo, commanding general, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego at the yellow footprints Dec. 6. Richard was meritoriously promoted after winning the Commandant of the Marine Corps Drill Instructor of the Year award. Drill instructors from MCRD SD have won the award three consecutive years and currently has four past winners since 2000 serving on the depot.
