Two military personnel in U.S. Air Force camouflage uniforms are engaged in what appears to be a combat casualty care training exercise on a gravel surface. One soldier (name tape reads 'RENEAU') is seated on the ground acting as a simulated casualty with a mock wound and orange tourniquet visible on the leg. A second soldier wearing a Princeton Tec headlamp and tactical backpack is administering simulated medical treatment.

Medical students from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) participate in a rigorous, two-week training referred to as "Operation Bushmaster," each year in October. The exercise is complete with mock explosions, moulaged "casualties," and simulated helo evacuations, as pictured here.
