U.S. Army Capt. Melinda S. Lape took command of the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 642nd Regional Support Group, during a ceremony at the Army Reserve Center in Decatur, Ga., Oct. 14. Lape, who previously served as the brigade’s training and operations plans officer and HHC executive officer, replaced Capt. Dong Vu. 642nd RSG commander, Col. Jeffrey C. Rector, oversaw the ceremony.
Lape was commissioned in 2011 and previously served in the 92nd Engineer Battalion and 554th Vertical Construction Company in Fort Stewart, Ga. She has also held the positions of maintenance platoon leader, battalion medical officer, battalion personnel officer, vertical construction platoon leader, engineer project manager and engineer plans officer.
