U.S. Navy Gunner’s Mate 3rd Class Kent Barfield, from Florence, South Carolina, fires a shot line from the guided-missile destroyer USS Stockdale (DDG 106) to the dry cargo and ammunition ship USNS Richard E. Byrd (T-AKE 4) for a replenishment-at-sea evolution during the anti-submarine warfare exercise SHAREM 195 in the Arabian Sea, Dec. 17, 2018. Stockdale is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
