Marines serving with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit depart USS Makin Island to begin a training exercise here Dec. 12. The Camp Pendleton, Calif., unit embarked three U.S. Navy ships in San Diego Nov. 14 and arrived in Singapore Dec. 12 as part of a regularly scheduled deployment to the Western Pacific and Middle East regions.
