U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Corey A. Sammons with Company F, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, trains in hand-to-hand combat during a commando training course on Camp Broche in New Caledonia Oct. 5, 2011 during Exercise AMERCAL 2011. AMERCAL is a platoon-level combat arms combined exchange between the French armed forces in New Caledonia and U.S. Marines with the purpose of maintaining a high level of interoperability, enhancing military-to-military relations and improving mutual combat capabilities with French allies.
