Lance Cpl. Omar Montero, a Bronx, N.Y., native and a water purification specialist from 9th Engineer Support Battalion, checks shut-off valves on the Tactical Water Purification System as part of the system maintenance checks. Montero, who is in support of 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion and 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, must check all the valves, among other things, every time the purification system is started.
