Corporal Chad Willis, a Chicago native and a reconnaissance Marine with 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, serves a spoonful of vegetables to a fellow recon Marine. Willis is one of two messmen assigned for duty in the field mess hall for the battalion. The two messmen work with the mess sergeants to clean the mess hall, prepare the food, serve meals, and cleanup after meals.
