Corporal Matthew J. Troutman, a Saugatuck, Mich., native and the assistant operations chief for Headquarters Battalion (Forward), 2nd Marine Division (Forward), is responsible for organizing firing ranges, coordinating with the units that belong to the division when they first arrive in country, and coordinating with the instructors to set timelines for the training. Troutman, who joined the Marine Corps in 2006, said he left his home town to make a name for himself.
