Anthony A. “Tony” Acerra, a Defense Contract Management Agency emergency essential quality assurance representative, died Oct. 29 in Kabul, Afghanistan, when enemy forces attacked the vehicle he was in with a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device. He deployed in July from DCMA Syracuse to DCMA Central Afghanistan. Acerra had been with the agency for 16 years and was serving as a principal expert on contingency operations contractor/supplier quality assurance and risk management. He performed quality assurance audits to ensure contract performance on numerous critical services under the Logistics Civil Augmentation Program.
