While visiting his grandfather in Apple Valley, Calif., Danish Sgt. Mathias B. Houmoeller, center, attached to the Guard Hussars, stopped by the National Training Center to learn from the soldiers of 2nd Platoon, K Troop, 2nd Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment at Fort Irwin, Calif., Nov. 4, 2011. Houmoeller, a drill sergeant in the Danish army, wanted to learn the techniques used by the U.S. Army in order to better train his soldiers.
