Brigadier Gen. Lorna Mahlock, the Chief Information Officer of the Marine Corps, speaks at a closing luncheon plenary during Thurgood Marshall College Fund’s (TMCF) 18th Annual Leadership Institute in the District of Columbia, October 29, 2018. The Marine Corps has had a marketing relationship with TMCF for the past four years, providing Marines with the opportunity to engage with highly-qualified Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) students. TMCF is the largest organization representing HBCUs, as it has provided approximately $300 million in assistance to its 47 member schools. During the luncheon, Mahlock discussed Marine Corps leadership traits and principles and the personal battles that Marines win every day. (Marine photo by Lance Cpl. Naomi May)
