Lt. John Bethell, command chaplain for NSA Souda Bay, held a ‘Blessing of the Animals’ ceremony for parishioners and animal lovers alike. Since the 13th century, the celebration known as the ‘Blessing of the Animals’ has been conducted in churches around the world each October in honor of Francis, the patron of animals and the environment.
