    II Marine Expeditionary Force

Lance Cpl. Larry J. Eichel’s vehicle struck an improvised explosive device recently. Eichel, a Clearwater, Fla., native and an anti-tank missileman with Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, handed over three Marine Corps Institute correspondence course tests for grading to his platoon sergeant seconds before getting on the helicopter for his own medical evacuation. Eichel said Marines are only allowed to register for three MCIs at a time. He added he wanted to hand the tests off because he knew he was going be in recovery for at least two days and wanted to be able to register for three more.
