Two UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters drop off distinguished visitors for a live fire exercise as a part of Operation Slovak Shield 2018 at the Lest Military Training Area in Lest, Slovakia, Sept. 27.
The exercise features U.S. Soldiers from 1st Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division from Fort Hood, Texas, integrated with Slovakian Soldiers to demonstrate their combined forces capabilities.
1-7 Cavalry Regiment and the Slovakian Army demonstrated live mortar firing, live-fire from military vehicles, dismounted-Soldier live fire, and simulated casualty evacuation.
Military leaders from the U.S. and other allied NATO forces, along with Slovakian government officials, were in attendance.
The exercise was part of Slovak Shield 2018 in support of USAREUR's larger mission, Operation Atlantic Resolve and to improve interoperability, strengthen relationships and trust among allied armies, contribute to regional stability, and demonstrate U.S. commitment to NATO.
