LTC Michael Berriman, Squadron Commander, 8-1 cavalry, 2-2 Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT) communicates to his command during a combined arms maneuver live-fire exercise (CAMLFX) at the Orchard Combat Training Center (OCTC), Boise, Idaho, on September 20, 2018. The 8-1 battalion conducted their CAMLFX with field artillery from their SBCT, mortars from their battalion, close air support from 124th Fighter Wing’s 190th Squadron’s A-10 Thunderbolt II’s. The OCTC provided a unique opportunity for the more than 600 soldiers from 8-1 cavalry to conduct many troop and platoon exercises simultaneously in a realistic and austere environment, including multiple days of CAMLFX.
