(Sept. 21, 2018) Deanna Rees, a marine resources specialist at Naval Facilities Engineering Command Atlantic, discusses how a lookout watchstander aboard a ship detects and reports all objects and disturbances sighted in the water with a student on an interactive tablet at the U.S. Navy’s “Stewards of the Sea: Defending Freedom, Protecting the Environment” exhibit during the 2018 Naval Air Station Oceana Air Show. The base partnered with local public schools to host a science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) laboratory designed to educate and inspire children and young adults about modern technological advancements and their applications, especially within the military.
