A roll of shock tube glows orange as an electric charge is sent through it to a cratering charge for detonation after Pvt. Carlos A. Dieguez, a native of Live Oak, Calif., and a combat engineer with Company A, 4-3 Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, initiated the blast with an M81 fuse igniter, Oct. 18, during an Engineer Qualification Table at Fort Stewart, Ga.
