180918-N-KW492-0059 ATLANTIC OCEAN (Sept. 18, 2018) Cpl. Michael Sheridan, left, assigned to the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), trains Lance Cpl. Connor Hancock to operate a M240B machine gun in the hangar bay of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3). U.S. Naval Forces Northern Command deployed Kearsarge, along with embarked elements of the 22nd MEU and the Expeditionary Strike Group 2 command element, to be positioned to provide Defense Support to Civil Authorities from the sea in response to Hurricane Florence, should support be requested.
