The image shows a large jet engine or turbine assembly instrumented with extensive sensor wiring and data acquisition harnesses, positioned inside what appears to be an engine test facility or wind tunnel. The engine core is heavily wrapped with white cables, thermocouples, and instrumentation leads, suggesting this is a research or developmental test configuration. A large circular inlet or exhaust duct opening is visible to the left, consistent with a test cell environment.

AEDC test teams were conducting testing on the Rolls-Royce engine pictured here when facility crews at Arnold Air Force Base determined plant equipment needed to be replaced. The equipment was replaced quickly and the Rolls-Royce test was successfully completed prior to a scheduled maintenance outage for the engine test facilities at Arnold.
